It would probably be inviting justified mockery from both the RPSers and the non-RPSers alike to admit to this, but when I was reading the slash the slashers stories the other day, the only coherent thoughts going through my mind were 1) "what a spiffy pairing, where can i find more of this?" and then 2) "oh that's just a world of wrong", repeatedly, in that order. So maybe my convictions waver a bit whenever I'm not keeping an eye on them. Could be. Don't care.

Don't care about anything much. Am bored. Sick of my own blather - the girl inside my head just will not shut up. shutup.

More adventures in friendsfriends - [livejournal.com profile] versaphile gives a nice description of that Certain Style and its popularity, though obviously for me, personally, it's still the style I like to mainline twice a day just to keep going, so. well yes. la-dee-da. And then, took a long nap yesterday afternoon and got a peachy little spot of lucid dreaming towards the end. Rare treat, to be treasured. Jumped onto a bridge off the top of a bus. Yelled at mother. Went grocery shopping. Moved freely between different levels of dream.

ETA. Must stop editing entry.

ETA. Because I'm sure everyone needs to know that the thumb on my writing/mouse hand has been all warm and swollen and numb from the knuckle up for an hour now (an hour! liek, forever!!11!) and I can't really extend the thumb in the usual way and it's freaking me out. meep, sob. Does this usually happen after too much typing/mouseying about or did I do something else to it? We'll never know.

ETA. One day I'll learn some of the basic rules of the English grammar, but that day is not today.

Would I sound completely clueless if I admitted that I've never really thought about fanfic styles before? I mean, obviously I knew that people had different styles but I never really pinned down any trend.

I probably fit into that style most of the time, not that I mind, but I've always just felt like I write how I write. I feel almost tainted now.

And, hey, I've begged [livejournal.com profile] hetrez multiple times since she wrote the slashtheslashers fic to write them again. Somehow in the process of her writing them I fell in love with the pairing. It's perfectly logical. or not.

Yeah, I don't know - generalization is generalization is generalization. I get a kick out of attempts to cram things and writing styles and what-not into little boxes and so do some other people but that doesn't necessarily mean it says much of anything substantial about how things are or about, you know, actual writing processes. (blahblah, I don't have a clue of what I'm trying to say, can you tell? :)) And I think that a lot of people who could sort of be considered to be writing within the borders of the "trend" (you included, I suppose) have nevertheless such distinctive voices of their own that it wouldn't make any sense to think of them as trying to follow some sort of "rules" as opposed to just writing in their own way. maybe? so that even if there is a trend, it might be partly & in some ways more of a question of in-certain-particular-ways-similar writers just coinciding. or, you know, I could also be wrong about that. :)

But, really. some of the slashtheslashers fics? Make me weep with their OTPesque beauty. *carefully tucks edge of tinfoil underneath innocent-looking ski cap*
