Watching The Pervert's Guide to Cinema was not unlike attending a two-and-a-half-hr lecture, with particularly awesome PowerPoint and no cigarette breaks. It was intense, you know? I thought I'd die of tiredness by the time it ended (at 23:35). (I also thought I finally understood what Mulholland Dr. was all about, but. that's gone now. I dreamt of my wedding last night.)
It also reminded me of how I've always rather thought that one of the (possibly under-appreciated) strengths of psychoanalysis is its inherent LOLARITY. Like, no matter what you think of its other merits, you still have to have a little love for any theory that makes it impossible to follow a chain of reasoning to its logical conclusion and keep a straight face. I'm right, right? And nothing brings the lulz like maternal superego.
Relatedly, my spam mail this morning is promising to "increase [my] phallus".

You guys, I've been reading people's reactions to Heroes 2x01, and all I have to say about that is
1) why is this show not on my television? To be more precise, why will this show be on my television in October, only with eps of season ONE?
2) TINY SPOILERY REACTION: but seriously, amnesia? amnesia???? do these people hate me personally?
ALSO. I said I wouldn't watch Friday Night Lights, on account of my traumatic personal history with Mr. Chandler mostly, BUT. Three (or four?) eps in, I'm strangely all over Lyla and Tyra and Tim Riggins, of all things - I'd ask for fic recs, but I, um. don't wanna be spoilered.

Date: 2007-09-26 05:54 pm (UTC)(And just in case there actually is someone called Mitch on Heroes and/or FNL, erm - I was actually quoting Slavoj Zizek trying to imagine what he would be thinking, as Tippi Hedren's character, in the beginning of Birds, so there are at least three (two? four?) degrees of separation between me and... was his name Mitch or am I making that up?)

Date: 2007-09-26 05:50 pm (UTC)uh, me too? I don't really know where I'm coming from, there - maybe it's the way they're all so utterly screwed and totally unable to do anything about it (well, Lyla and Tim, mostly) right now? I expect my interest will wane as things develop. Maybe.
(But then again, Mr and Mrs Coach are awesome, and I'm all rah-rah aboard that ship - but they're not interesting to me at all at this point. Which, um. yeah.)
