all right, my pumpkins
Dec. 29th, 2002 09:19 pmInability to get out of anything gracefully, do you learn it or does it come naturally. Sentences? lose their grace on their way from mind to paper, as a rule. I suppose you could say I'm pretty good at getting myself all wound up, and this is why maybe if I (some day) run into someone else who knows how to slap me a bit and say, okay, kid, that's enough now, snap out of it, maybe that'll have to be a keeper.
But we don't do thanksgiving here so I'll give some thanks today, because it feels like the right day for it:
Grateful today for all the popslash I've spent most of the day reading, because sparkly is where it's at.
For my evil bureaucratic socialist European country.
For giggles.
For Justin Timberlake's eyelashes, even though in order to understand my confusion at all you'd also have to understand that, in that age that comes before irony, I never ever liked anything it would have been cool to like back then.
For the fact that reading for pleasure in five different languages during one single holiday makes me look really sexy, no, yes, right?
For getting christmas prezzies even though we're not really doing them these years in the family, for being the baby who must be spoiled and given prezzies, for the books and the glasses and the fluffy fluffy blanket after all the complaining I did about the coldness of this place.
For pretty elves. For memes. For lj icons that finally showed up again on my friends page.
For boredom that is mine and amusement that other people bring even though I don't reciprocate.
For sleep.
For London, and the fact that I'm going, and being, and with the beautiful people, and maybe some drinks & smokes & wicked stories before the pure and spartan new life begins (as it always does).
Have a good new year. The best one yet, I say, and it's lame, but yes. The best one yet, because that's the only way to go, honestly, really.
