Call this the chapter where lj user leksa goes slumming. I got word from the housing in T, I have a wee tiny room with the kitchen and the bathroom shared with two other people waiting for me, in the projects largest student housing complex in town, and it's blissfully cheap, and it differs from a regular up-standing student housing arrangement in that one, I'm also keeping my distractingly gorgeous huge flat in H, and two, I'm too old for this, and three three three there is no other word but what-is-this. OMGWTF.

Oh, and English language, she still loves mocking me so.
Today, today I had to say "sociolinguistics" out loud for the first time ever - and I just dove in with very little forethought and no idea of what I was getting myself into - and you can imagine how prettily that ended - esp. considering that I tried to take the so-sho route - the way the stresses in a word can tumble and trip over their feet, oh my!
Actually, I've been thinking, a lot, about fandom as an American space, recently (again) - and English - and the way I still find myself kicking and screaming and flailing within and against it sometimes - and terrible bad analogies about what it's like to be a house-guest in another language/culture (because my gift for bad analogies is such that it transcends linguistic barriers) - but I worry too much about offending people no matter which way I turn, and when the disclaimers start getting longer than the post, it's time for the post to die.

In more important news, Supernatural will be on tv here in the autumn, and I will be without access to a tv, elsewhere, in the autumn. Was nun, Pinneberg? There is only so much 'cest a girl can read without some type of an excuse.

Date: 2006-07-26 04:08 am (UTC)but at least they'll be a couple of hundred kilometers apart, right? or something. i mean, it's mainly, um. i'm going to have too many classes this semester to make taking the train (about two hours in each direction) back and forth every day really an option, but on the other hand, there's not much point in my packing up everything and relocating entirely when i still have to come back here a lot, and i don't know how long and if i'm going to stay there, really, and also current flat owned by family members who wouldn't be able to do anything else with the current flat right now anyway. also, it shall be a very expensive lesson in the art of waffling and never making any decisions at all! hem.
