Assume spoilers where applicable.

4. Cider.

5. So, okay, yes, getting to squeal "OMG, Kim Bauer is in TROUBLE!" at the tv screen is what makes my Tuesday night complete. That is all. Except, you know, Carrie & Michelle? Where be the slash? I know their discord is going to turn out to be something far more boring, but until it does, theirloveissotechnologicalandcliched.

But plot spoilers make Baby Jesus cry. Or me, at any rate.

6. What can I say? At least I managed not to crack up at any time before Inman's heartbreaking death scene. "I - came - back!" You sure did, babyboy.

But, seriously, I know that my prejudice against the "talked to you twice and now I'll love you 4eva!!11!" stories isn't pretty, and if anything, I have to give the movie props for spinning that particular plot in such a way that I was able to say, yes, great, if that's what keeps you going, then hang on to it. (Though not so much as to not root for Ruby in the Ruby/Ada/Inman triangle, which I'm fairly sure counts as a triangle even when you're not wearing your slash goggles.) The main problem, for me, was that not for one moment was Nicole Kidman anything but a 21st century movie star portraying a Civil War era gal - the impression emphasized exponentially by the Inman/Ada interaction towards the end of the story. And, I hate to be so very uncontroversial about this, but the heart of the movie is Ruby, and she even went quite a long way towards redeeming the character of Ada for me, so.

I don't know. Epics, man. I'd never see any of these if it weren't for my mother.

7. Kill. Kill. I used to wonder why every single serial killer in the Scarpetta novels would eventually get all fixated on Scarpetta, but I'm starting to understand. Like. Who wouldn't want to bash her face in, at this point? Like. Are there any post-Last Precinct Scarpetta novels out yet? I don't know, so I'm free to assume that, in the next episode, she'll find out that besides everything else having been a vast conspiracy, her father was also murdered, and it's all because God wants her to suffer.

More prejudices, yes, this is where I go into the Bitter Old Cornwell Queen territory, but. Why? Why was I ever lured in by the first novels which I thought actually quite good? Why???? It hurts. Also, the crappy translation hurts, but if I were to go on a tangent about why you should never ever use the Finnish expression for "having sex" that is the approximate equivalent of "sex is my hobby", when broken down, very few of the people potentially reading this would appreciate it.

Anyhoo, enough cultural whining for a night, maybe.

8. I know that it's not interesting on any normal human being scale of interest, but to me, personally, it's interesting that losing a game of computer solitaire feels infinitely more satisfying than winning one.

9. Teanna says, tell us what you're writing, so here be all my active WIPs:

The Secret Santa Fic, aka Who are these people? why am I calling them Snape and Lockhart? is there ever going to be a plot? OMG, my prose is making me vomit again. and, wait, wasn't this due like a half a year ago?

The Tremendously Original Nancy/Bess/George crackfic, aka Nancy Drew and the Mystery of Mulholland Drive. Oh, wait, they already made the movie.

The Tremendously Original Ginny/everyone else + OFC fic, aka Ginny Weasley and the River of Names. Oh, wait, etc.

ETA. vampires!Emma as that will be the active WIP until I die obviously forever, yay.

My fanfic is derivative in all the wrong places (and has fat calves). Anyway, you see that I'm a single-fandom girl only in my reading.

Speaking of derivative in all the wrong places, I almost took down my one fic of doom and horror the other day, but then I couldn't, because I'd gotten one more review! last November, I think. *shoots self in the head*

10. Did I mention the cider yet?

PS. writing poetry in any other language but your own is never a good idea. kthxbye.

you should send me some sparkle and i could add to it. but re: Cornwell. Guuh. And she wrote this other series, and it was good the first book, then it was bad, and my money wasted. and you're so right about Scarpetta, not that I can read more Scarpetta ever.

The Secret Santa Fic, aka Who are these people?

Better late than something something never-cakes. Uh - good luck with that. I hope it turns out eventually.
