speaking of music
Apr. 17th, 2004 01:23 pmSo, since y'all really want to know, here's what I think you should be listening to right now:
[x] For all your outside-the-States hip-hop/rap needs, Dizzee Rascal. No, seriously. I say this with the authority of someone who barely knew that hip-hop existed two months ago; also, most of the time I have no idea what he's saying, what with my useless ear for lyrics and all (although the reviewers tell me that, every now and then, he actually has something to say). But, damn, he sounds good. (And then come back to chat with me about how good, exactly, mmkay?)
[x] For tasty, vaguely Air-esque (for lack of a more accurate point of comparison because I'm stoopid), film-noir-ish (if you believe the reviewers), Finnish instrumental music on happy crack, Magyar Posse.
[x] For what just might still be the most wonderful insanest mish-mashiest bit of music out there, JC Chasez's "Blowin' Me Up", which is old news to everybody except those of us who never actually got to hear the entire song before purchasing Schizophrenic. His lyrics you can hear, but they're so not the point. The point is all those precious minutes of musical madness. Madness, baby.
And, so, there. No need to thank me. It's reward enough to know that your life will never be the same again.
(What I'd be curious to see, though, is some sort of a "My 10 formative songs/albums/bands" meme doing the rounds, but that's probably too much to ask.)
