Oh, what the hell. Since I'm too sick and lazy to actually say anything, and yet can't go without posting. If anyone's bored and wants to play.

1. Pick something on my interests list that you also like and describe why.
2. Pick something on my interests list that you don't like and describe why.
3. Pick something that is on my interests list that surprises you. Why does this surprise you?
4. Pick something that is on my interests list that you know next to nothing about (if you want me to give you details, let me know that, too).
5. Pick something that you think should be on my interests list. Why do you think it should be there?

(from [livejournal.com profile] mazily, as most usual. not gip, but shiny new icon nevertheless, from [livejournal.com profile] stubbleglitter. me, fresh from half a concert, because i ran out of breath before the intermission. still, mozart & co. - i rather feel like i've done my share of culture again.)

Um. In no particular order, and perhaps not following all or any of the parameters:

Belle and Sebastian are woooonderful. Do you like making confessions or hearing them? Corduroy is warm and comforting and I need some in my life. Which brand of feminism do you subscribe to? Is it grasshopper-the-insect that you like (because they FREAK ME OUT) or grasshopper-the-alcoholic-beverage (see: The West Wing, Season One, Episode Six, "Mr. Willis of Ohio")? I know almost no music that beeps (though I love the description) except for The Postal Service's Such Great Heights, which I adore. Recommend some? What are the fearsome-sounding underwater killer zombies, or are they just what they seem? The state of whose moustache? Huzzah for all things linguistic and literary. And you have no art interests listed, which is something I associate with you; though I could so easily be wrong.

um, answers that got long and then longer

confessions: still there from back when i was trying to write a paper about (among other things) confessionality in atwood's alias grace, so i suppose you could say that i like reading them.

feminism: can i say that i find almost all brands of it interesting in one way or another? though by now one probably should have learned to be slightly suspicious of the more blatantly essentialist arguments.

grasshoppers: oh-god-please-no-not-the-insect (because they freak me out as well. like all insects). and it was the west wing girls that first got me into drinking them, so a gold star for you for getting the connection. :)

(also, the drink is yummy.)

music that beeps: hum, ho. oh, man, i should have known better than to invite people to ask me to clarify my way-too-vague definitions... but, really, anything you feel like should be in the category, is, as far as i'm concerned; as for recs, well. air has some very nice stuff that fits the description, imo, though i really can't think of any specific song titles right now.

underwater killer zombies: are what they seem. the guy who taught my SF lit course tried to rec us all a movie, because it was "a great classic, with underwater killer zombie nazis and all". never saw the movie, alas, but the zombies remained.

the moustache: of one mr. jc chasez, naturally. the day the pics of the moustache turned up, i realized it was a fairly good approximation of exactly what my life revolves around. of course, the moustache has gone away since, and may it rest in peace for a long time to come, but surely it was always more of a metaphorical thing anyway.

*cough* or maybe not.

linguistics: even though you didn't exactly ask about it. just that it always makes me happy to see all your marvy so-themed posts on my friendspage, because linguistics was kinda my first love, and yet i don't really get any of it irl these days.

art: i have had "art nouveau" on the list on and off, but for the most part, i haven't the first clue of why i might give the impression that me & art are somehow connected, seeing how the visual arts are possibly the most incomprehensible thing in the world for me. :)

(and because i'm too lazy to post a separate comment to say this: that your latest harry potter post was such a sneakily inevitable punch in the gut that i'm still out of breath. lovely. :))

Ooh, good for me. *sticks gold star on shirt* I just rewatched some of the first-season episodes when I was home on Spring Break last month. What's in the drink?

Naturally. *smacks forehead*

Oh good, there are some people I'm not boring to death with it. :) I have plenty to ramble on about, I assure you.

You know, I'm not sure either. I think it was your icons.

*g* Well, thank you. It was just this little scenario that popped up in my brain, and I went with it.

What's in the drink?

usually, iirc, green creme de menthe, white creme de cacao and cream. yummy if one likes one's drinks very sweet and very creamy. :)
