- and though it is, no doubt, half a defense mechanism, and though I will readily admit coming and going that I'm just a writers' groupie and always have been and should be weighed and thrown only as such (and there are others like me, yes) - still, any time I see the "why don't you write your own fucking fic then?" response to the "I'd like more fic of this or that kind" wish (or to anything, really, it's a great response to anything), I halfly think, "wow, how you must hate writing, if you really think it's not something one should do because one wants to, but rather a chore, a tedious little task to be performed whether one likes it or not, not for the joy of it, but because it's the proper way to buy the right to speak/wish/hold an opinion/join/play".

For reals, kids, for reals now. (But my 20th diary-keeping anniversary is coming up this autumn, shall we have a party then? And it's never once made me cool yet.)

I'm working crazy hours and mainlining Babylon 5 for all the rest, that is all. (It's good to know people in the know, like this: I asked Teanna, "but is it wrong of me to fixate so on Sheridan's dental hygiene and Garibaldi's hair?" and she told me, no, that's pretty much what the fandom is all about. Thank goodness. The tents were broken out, the camp set.)
